As a non-profit organization, it constitutes an interdisciplinary and independent scientific medical society with a unique and historically-grown network of outstanding experts in the different fields of laboratory medicine.

As a recognized member of national and international scientific bodies, INSTAND works in close cooperation with national and international organisations that are shaped by their joint commitment for standardisation and quality control. The high level of quality of INSTAND's work is documented by its recent accreditation in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043.
